King City Saddle Club

Mt. Vernon, Illinois

Bits N Bridles News & Info

Because all of the members of our 4-H Club are also members of the King City Saddle Club - I am including a page for them.  Also, other saddle club members get a chance to see what our younger members are doing.

Our meetings are held the second Monday of the month.  February and March's meeting will be held at the Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Office beginning at 7:00.  Meetings from April through November are held in the cook shack of the King City Saddle Club.

Members have to be 9 years of age and DO NOT have to own a horse to be a part of the club.  We do lots of fun things.  Provide pony rides to Project Child in May, do special events in December (like Christmas Caroling at a nursing home or buying gifts for needy children),  we take road trips to horse fairs or rodeos!!

If anyone is interested in joining, please contact Darlene Verheyen at 618-315-2382.

LAST MEETING INFO

We had a great turnout - new people - exciting way to start the summer - thanks for being there.
NEW BUSINESS:

Project child May 9th - we need calm ponies and horses for this event and
kids, friends of kids, parents, friends of parents, grandparents - friends of grandparents - who have strong legs and good feet.

This is our biggest fund raiser of the year - lots of kids want to ride and we really need the volunteeres (money takers, photo takers, gate keepers, ticket takers.)

In the past we have had at least 400 kids ride during this event - that's alot of walking.  The more we have to help the easier it will be.
Ride night at KCSC April 24th 6:00-??
KCSC dues must be paid before you ride

We decided to handle the concessions for the Pleasure Show on May 3rd and also the fun shows for the year - parents/grandparents if you can help while the kids ride this would be a good time for them to participate in a really fun experience.

Old Business:

Showmanship clinic April 25th Perry County Fairgrounds, 9:00 a.m. register by April 17th 357-2126 by April 17th, hotdog lunch served $1.00.
This should be a good clinic so it would be a good idea for anyone showing animals to go.
